Dover Coastguard assist Border Force ‘rescuing migrants in English Channel’

Seven migrants have been rescued from a boat in the English Channel overnight, according to reports.

The Dover coastguard said they assisted the UK Border Force with an incident in the Channel at roughly 2am today.

The BBC reports that seven migrants were picked up from a boat.

Dover Lifeboat was launched at 2.30am.

The port has not been affected by the incident.

A brief statement by HM Coastguard said: "HM Coastguard is currently assisting Border Force with an incident in the Dover Channel."

The Home Office has been approached for comment.
