WWE has huge plans for Drew McIntyre with a major push planned for 2019

It looks like the WWE has found their next big thing and he is the Scottish superstar Drew McIntyre.

When the WWE held their Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia, there were rumors that the WWE considered adding McIntyre to the Universal Championship match to make it a three-way.

However, they stuck with the original plans and Brock Lesnar beat Braun Strowman with outside interference to win the title a second time.

However, there might be a bigger reason for that. The only reason to add McIntyre was to have either Braun or Brock beat Drew to protect the big men or for McIntyre to cost Braun the match.

Instead, it sounds like the WWE wants to protect Drew McIntyre.

There was supposed to be a big match between Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre at the TLC pay-per-view in December. Wrestling Inc reports that has now been changed to Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin.

After losing to Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel, Strowman needs some big wins and if the WWE has the big plans for Drew McIntyre that they appear to, feeding him to Strowman is counterproductive.

WrestleVotes reports that the WWE has been very high on Drew McIntyre for months now and they have huge plans for him in 2019.

This also makes sense. McIntyre was once considered the Chosen One in the WWE but was too fresh of a face and the fans turned on him. After leaving the WWE, he made his name as a tough as nails bruiser and returned a changed man.

Drew McIntyre is now someone who could legitimately be seen as a main event talent and a future world champion in the WWE. His time might finally come in 2019.

If Roman Reigns is out for the long term, could WrestleMania be where Drew McIntyre finally wins the big one in the WWE?
