However, according to reports and the rumoured teaser, this year's artist is the legendary Elton John.

Mail on Sunday claimed that the performer will be paid £5 million for his one-off appearance which will see him playing the piano at the climax of the advert and his 1970 hit Your Song as the soundtrack.

They also explained that Sir Elton spent four days at the Pinewood studios in Buckinghamshire shooting.

Last year's John Lewis ad told the story of a little boy who befriended the monster under his bed.

The featured song was a cover of The Beatles' Golden Slumbers by the rock band Elbow.
