Strictly Come Dancing winner Stacey Dooley may have bagged the Glitterball trophy alongside Kevin Clifton, but she’s dancing in the tour with a new partner.
The pair seemed like the best of friends during rehearsals for the BBC show, but as the documentary-maker swapped him in for Aljaz Skorjanec, she made a surprising dig at her former dance coach.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the red-haired beauty teased the reason that she’d switched professionals, as she joked: "I loved Kev, but it just wasn’t working out!"
Laughing as she made the gag, Stacey then went on to tell viewers how much she missed the Grimsby-born dancer.
Despite Stacey’s comments, the real reason the victorious couple have split is because of Kevin’s busy work schedule.
The 36 year old dancer is busy playing Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, which is on stage from 22 January until 6 April, meaning his performances would have clashed with the Strictly shows.
Addressing dancing with Kevin for the first time in November as the news was announced, Kevin said: “I’ll miss Kev, but I’m looking forward to putting Aljaz through his paces!"
Meanwhile, Kevin has also spoken out on his absence, telling RadioTimes.com that he would have "loved" to dance alongside the journalist if he hadn’t been busy.
"I’d have loved to have done it if I was free," he told the website.
"I think Aljaz is probably quite similar to me in terms of what I’m like to work with, neither of us are strict, we both prefer to have fun.
"I would really hate it if Stacey was going to someone who was going to scream and shout at her.”
Despite claiming that Stacey would be in good hands with Aljaz, Kevin showed a hint of jealousy when she shared her promotional shot alongside him.
“Not long… see you on tour, yea?”, Stacey wrote tagging her new partner, to which Kevin responded with eight crying emojis.
