Love Island is back on TV screens, and the popular dating show has already become a major talking point.
The ITV2 show premiered with a fresh batch of singletons last week, but one original member has already been shown the door.
Sherif Lanre, 20, was axed yesterday after breaking villa rules.
ITV confirmed the news via a statement, but has yet to reveal the cause of Sherif’s shock exit.
“He must be out soon and heading to press interviews.”
It read: “After breaking the villa rules, Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”
Frankie Foster, who appeared on the show last year, spoke about Sherif’s fate in an exclusive interview with the Daily Star Online.
He said: “He must be out soon and heading to press interviews.
“The show runs a day behind, so obviously they can’t send you straight home as people would know who has gone before it’s been aired.
“I just had to stay a day. I went out in the morning, because you finished late, and you go to a casting villa that night – and the day after. “
When asked what he thought could be the reason for Sherif’s departure, he replied: “There is a list of rules for when you’re in lockdown. You have to read a big booklet.
“There’s nothing weird in there. Generally it’s to behave well.”
And news of the axe has become a hot topic with the 2018 series’ contestants.
Frankie said: “We still have a WhatsApp chat with the old guys from last year, and nobody knows. “
Other former Love Islanders have come forward with their own theories on Sherif leaving.
Megan Barton-Hansen stated Sherif “must have done something serious” following the axe.
Wes Nelson, who appeared on Capital’s breakfast show, said: “You obviously can’t fight, you can’t be aggressive before Islanders or producers.
“’It’s all up in the air at the moment, but I’m sure we’ll get the tea when it spills. I’ll be after that. I’ll be hunting!”
Love Island continues tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.
