Eastenders actress June Brown has revealed that as she doesn’t feel she has long left, she won’t be giving up cigarettes or alcohol any time soon.
In fact, she fully intends to enjoy what time she has left by indulging in all of life’s vices.
The 92-year-old, who is approaching her 93rd birthday, has revealed she loves drinking Guinness, she’ll be sticking with her smoking habit, and will continue munching on chocolate despite the fact she’s allergic to the stuff. It’s like we’re kindred spirits.
She told Radio Times magazine: ‘I’m going to die of something fairly soon so why not enjoy myself, (I) love red wine and also dark chocolate, even though I’m allergic to it and it makes me sneeze.
‘And the Guinness helps me keep a bit of weight on.
‘So I don’t need to be careful about what I eat or drink.’
June added that she’d attempted to swap smoking for vaping, but found the e-cigarettes too heavy to hold.
‘What’s the point of counting how many cigarettes I smoke a day? I’ve been on them for over 70 years,’ she said.
June previously revealed that she shuns modern technology, favouring the old school mobile phones that simply make calls.
‘I’m technology illiterate. I don’t bother with computers, although I have an electronic reader,’ she said. ‘I can play CDs and I can use an ordinary mobile.
‘But with mobiles now, all these funny things come up when I just want to make calls. ‘Then there’s text speak, like, ‘C U 2moro’. It’s like hieroglyphics.’
However, she has confessed to allowing some technology into her life as she begins to lose her eyesight – revealing that she uses Amazon’s Alexa to help her read newspapers.
