The Castlevania animated series on Netflix is doing a great job of taking the stories of some old Nintendo Entertainment System games and turning them into fleshed-out narratives that we can’t get enough of.
But one character from the third game, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, is missing. That character is boss turned ally Grant Danasty. Get it? Da nasty. Yeah…
In his original artwork, he looked like a generic pirate. In controversial Wii fighting game Castlevania: Judgment, he looks like a bondage-obsessed mummy:
Despite his importance to the plot of Castlevania III, he’s absent from the series. So where is he?
Speaking to Kotaku, producer Adi Shankar said: “I’m so glad you asked! This is great. No one’s asked me about this.
“Grant’s there. He’s in the world. Just because we’re not seeing them in the show doesn’t mean they don’t exist in the world…
“I’ll reference what I said before about how in our universe events are similar but there’s also variations and differences. Grant’s definitely in the world.”
Maybe now that someone has actually asked him about Grant, Shankar might be compelled to put his bandaged butt in a future season.
Castlevania seasons one and two are available to stream on Netflix right now. If you’ve never played a game in the series before, Symphony of the Night (the most popular and best one) is out now on PlayStation 4.
