George Clooney has said the Duchess of Sussex is being ‘pursued and vilified’ and compared her struggles to those of the late Princess of Wales.
Speaking at an event in Los Angeles this week, Clooney, 57, claimed that history was repeating itself in the case of Meghan and Diana, warning: ‘we’ve seen how that ends’.
The Hollywood star is a close friend of Harry and Meghan, and he and his human rights lawyer wife Amal attended their wedding last year as well as reportedly visiting the couple at their Cotswolds home.
His dramatic intervention comes amid continued reports of a rift between Meghan, who is seven months pregnant, and her father, Thomas Markle Sr.
The Mail on Sunday this week published a letter from Meghan in which she accused her father of breaking her heart ‘into a million pieces’ by giving interviews to the press, fabricating stories and publicly attacking her new husband.
