Actor Steve Buscemi ‘s late wife had been harbouring a crush on him since she was a teenager.
But the Boardwalk Empire star’s other half Jo Andres, who has died aged 65 , didn’t even recognise him when they first met.
The Reservoir Dogs star said that when their paths finally crossed it wasn’t until they were back at his place did it finally click.
"When we met, she didn’t realise I was the guy on the poster. When we got to my apartment, she saw the same poster and said, ‘That’s you!’" he previously revealed.
Buscemi’s partner of 30 years passed away surrounded by friends and family in New York earlier this month, E! News reports.
The filmmaker’s cause of death has not been made public, but the couple hadn’t been seen on the red carpet since July 2018 when they attended The Cinema Society screening of Puzzle in New York.
Steve – who starred in Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos and Fargo – married Jo in 1987 and their son Lucian was born three years later.
A huge success in her own right, Jo found fame in the art world in the 1980s,and make her directorial debut with Black Kites in 1996.
"Andres first became known on the kinetic downtown New York performance scene of the 1980s for her film/dance/light performances," her website reads.
"Shown at the reigning venues of the era, among them The Performing Garage, La Mama E.T.C., P.S. 122, St. Marks Danspace, and the Collective for Living Cinema."
Her biggest fan was her husband, who told the Independent in 2009 that his favourite work of art was, "something by my wife Jo Andres."
"She paints, she makes films, she has done performance," he added.
