‘I Am Champagne’: Ariana Grande Has Been Drinking More Than Ever Since Pete Split

Ariana Grande has been relying on mimosas more than ever since her heartbreaking split from fiancé Pete Davidson — and can anyone blame her?

During a recent interview with Billboard, the magazine’s “Woman Of The Year” even admitted that her hit single, “thank u, next” was written during a boozy night with friends!

“I can’t believe it but, like, so can,” said the singer of her new song’s instant success. “It’s me and my besties tipsy off champagne — and me with a broken heart — just letting it out and having fun. I love this more than any other song I’ve ever put out.”

Grande, 26, who couldn’t get through the interview without tearing up about her recent string of tragedies and victories, admitted that in the past month, she’s been an emotional wreck. “I can’t even say ‘Good morning’ to anyone without crying,” she admitted. Hence the bubbly!

During the talk, Grande’s music collaborators, Tommy Brown, Social House, Victoria Monét, Tayla Parx and Doug Middlebrook joined her in her control room to listen to their award-winning single.

“I don’t think I’ve ever consumed more alcohol than I have in the past month,” joked the ponytail queen as Brown popped a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. “I am champagne. You know how people say we’re 60 percent water? I’m 60 percent pink Veuve Clicquot.”

She added that “thank u, next” was written in about a week and recorded in two weeks. And now, with the same team of creatives and BFFs, she’s working on a brand new album.

Grande’s upcoming project is the product of a lot of “feminine energy and champagne and music and laughter and crying. This [album’s] not particularly uplifting,” she admitted. “A lot of it sounds really upbeat, but it’s actually a super sad chapter.”

Despite how difficult this year has been for Grande, the stunner has now become the only artist to ever have the lead single from her last four albums in the top 10 of the Hot 100. And as if that wasn’t enough, she’s also become the first woman in three years to have a single debut at number one on the Hot 100, according to Billboard.
